Female MyPLAYER
The headline feature for MyPLAYER is the ability to create a female player for the first time in the series.
All MyPLAYERs are built on the same framework. Your height, weight, wingspan, and ratings are all determined by your build rather than your appearance.
That ensures everything remains on a level playing field, regardless of whether players choose a male or female build.
Both male and female players draw from the same library of official NBA and WNBA player animations.
You can try it this week as the NBA 2K HQ launches on August 21, 2026. Anything you build will be available the moment you boot up the game.
Players can share their build with friends via QR codes.
New Badges & Badge Tokens
NBA 2K27 has 19 new Badges of a total of 53 spread across Shooting, Finishing, Playmaking, Defense, Rebounding, and Physical disciplines.
Here are all the new Badges:
Shooting
- Set and Fire: Applies a shooting boost to 3-point shots when the player’s feet are completely set.
- Arc Cadence: Improves a player’s ability to knock down 3-point shots on the move, including pull-ups, hop-steps, or spin shots.
- Static Middy: Applies a shooting boost to stand-still mid-range shots.
- Smooth Operator: Improves a player’s ability to knock down mid-range shots on the move, including pull-ups, hop-steps, or spin shots.
- Quick Trigger: Improves a player's ability to make no-dip jump shots.
Finishing
- Post Spin Catalyst: Attempting post spins or drives results in more effective moves and less of a chance to be stripped.
- Ghost Stepper: Increases the effectiveness of step-through layups or other close-range shots that come after a shot fake.
Playmaking
- Pace: Raises the speed of the ball handler when sprinting.
Defense
- Wall Up: Improves shot contest effectiveness during hands-up defense when guarding the paint.
- Ankle Braces: Lowers the likelihood of getting ankle-broken by opposing dribble moves.
- Seatbelt: Boosts body-up defense effectiveness, making it easier to clamp opponents and disrupt their drive path.
Rebounding
- Crasher: Boosts a player’s ability to track down or grab rebounds on the offensive end.
- Possession Closer: Boosts a player’s ability to grab rebounds on the defensive end.
- Sync Snatcher: Gives an additional Vertical and Rebounding boost when perfectly timing the jump.
- Boxout Boss: Improves the effectiveness of boxouts as the boxer.
- Breaker: Increases the success rate of breaking through opponent boxouts.
Physicals
- Work Horse: Increases a player's speed and ability to get loose balls over the opponent.
- Flash: Speeds up movement without the ball while in transition on offense or defense.
- Bruiser: Drains energy from opponents when making physical contact.
The idea here is to make these more "specialized" than broader in previous games.
For example, the all-purpose Set Shot Specialist badge from 2K26 has been replaced by separate mid-range and 3PT shooting badges called Static Middy and Set and Fire.
Badge Tokens are newly introduced for NBA 2K27 and are used to equip badges.
Every single build starts with 20 Badge slots. Even though they're unlocked the moment you enter The City, you have to earn Badge Tokens to actually fill them.
Badge Tokens can be earned by filling the six discipline meters based on your in-game performance or by completing Team Practice drills and Gatorade workouts.
Heavy finishers throwing it down at the rim will naturally see their Finishing progression rise, while high-volume shooters will quickly increase their Shooting progression. Tokens earned this way stay locked to their discipline.
Alongside Badges, the four tiers of Rebirth are back in NBA 2K27. After reaching 90 OVR, Rebirth starts your new build at the highest OVR you previously reached.
Rebirth unlocks a percentage of your default Badge Tokens. The higher your Rebirth level, the more tokens you have unlocked from day one.
Badge Loadout
You can now create and save completely different Badge combinations with the addition of Badge Loadouts.
You'll have one loadout by default and can earn up to three more loadouts through REP, Challenges, and Crews.
Switch them before tip-off to counter a specific matchup without having to hop through the menu screen.
New Synergy System
Synergy allows you to push Badges past their limits and reach the Legend tier.
The game has 16 total Synergy slots. Twelve of them provide a +1 boost, and four of them provide a massive +2 boost.
Synergies are split into Fuse and Reaction.
- Fuse Badges receive a permanent +1 or +2 boost for the entire game. Placing a Badge in the Fuse slot entirely frees up the Badge Tokens you would have otherwise spent to equip it.
- Reaction Badges are directly paired with Fuse Badges. The effect is triggered automatically once you’ve activated your Fuse Badge a set number of times during a game. Once triggered, the Reaction Badge receives the same +1 or +2 boost for the rest of the game.
Synergy is earned through Season rewards, Build Specialization, Crew progression, and REP. Synergy earned via Season rewards expires at the end of each Season.
New Builder Path, Cap Breaker, & Takeover
Signature Blueprints replace Pro-Tuned and NBA templates. There are 40 Signature Blueprint templates at launch, each drawn from three players.
For example, the Bulldozer build has shades of LeBron James, Pascal Siakam, and Scottie Barnes.
Cap Breaker is also returning to NBA 2K27.
Once you’ve created your build to a 99 OVR, the Cap Breaker preview will become available. It'll show how much boost each attribute receives if a Cap Breaker is applied.
Finally, MyPLAYER builds start with five default Takeover slots, and progression unlocks 19 additional Takeover abilities across five disciplines.
Hydration Hero can be equipped in any slot and prevents Adrenaline and Stamina drain while active.
Players also earn 15 Takeover Perks, with one equippable per discipline:
- Accelerator speeds up Takeover meter gains.
- Longevity extends the active ability
- Overdrive increases its attribute boosts.
