MyCAREER Eras
MyCAREER Era is a career mode spin on the MyNBA Era mode. You build your MP and your career in one of five historical eras.
The time periods are the same as in MyNBA last year:
- The Magic vs. Bird Era: Begins in 1984, placing you in the league right at the moment Michael Jordan enters as a rookie on the Chicago Bulls.
- The Jordan Era: Begins in 1991, at the dawn of the Bulls' legendary first three-peat.
- The Kobe Era: Begins in 2003, intersecting with one of the greatest draft classes in history as LeBron James enters the league.
- The LeBron Era: Begins in 2010, shifting the balance of power as superteams take center stage.
- The Steph Era: Begins in 2016, where the 3-point revolution completely changes how the game is played.
Everything here is historically accurate. Rosters, trades, presentations, and moments follow exactly as they did in the past.
For old heads who grew up during those years, the court is yours to team up with Michael Jordan or try to steal a ring from LeBron.
Fire & Concrete
For modern fans who don't get all too giddy hearing about the potential to play through the past, you can stick to the traditional MyCAREER.
Titled Fire & Concrete, it spans 11 chapters and is over double the length of NBA 2K26’s story.
The story begins with you as a top high school prospect committed to Duke, before a serious car accident puts your basketball career in doubt.
Two years later, you return to New York and start rebuilding things at the legendary Rucker Park with your cousin Cam, voiced and mocapped by Vince Staples.
Your Draft position is now no longer fixed and is determined by your performance.
Your performance during the prelude can fetch you the #1 position. There is an option to skip all this and pick your favorite team regardless.
The rookie-year story continues past the prelude in Fire & Concrete, while the second season introduces eight new Key Game sets with narrative content and rewards tied to the 40-level MyCAREER progression track.
CO-OP in MyCAREER
Co-op was one of the most requested additions for MyCAREER, and it is being added to NBA 2K27.
Your buddy won't be playing as their MP, as that might not make sense, so they'd instead play an NPC.
The name of your running mate is Trace Miller. A custom teammate you meet in the G League who stays with you all the way through your NBA career.
You choose one of nine build templates that are based on the following NBA superstars:

- Cade Cunningham
- Stephen Curry
- Luka Dončić
- Kevin Durant
- Anthony Edwards
- Donovan Mitchell

Miller can be upgraded. Earn points and spend them to improve your mate's attributes, badges, and playstyle.
After your virtual buddy is built, whenever your real friend hops into your career, they'll assume his place so you can play your journey together.
While your partner won't be your MP, they will earn separate, full amounts of VC and Season XP. So it's not a total waste if your friends are boring.
