Surprisingly, there are two promotions this time. Both Lúcio and Maicon have been in EA FC titles as Heroes.
One of the very best defenders of his generation, Lúcio was called "O Cavalo" for his physical presence and long, galloping stride.
That's exactly the kind of center back you'd need in FC 27, provided lengthy continues to remain meta for defenders.
Maicon was among the meta player choices even as a Hero. The Fantasy FC League Maicon card brought the sweatiest and rattiest lobbies in FC 25.
Among other inclusions, several players were playing football until what feels like yesterday. Agüero, Varane, and Pepe are recent retirees.
You may argue against including the Real Madrid CB duo as ICONs, but both have spent years among football’s elite defenders.
Pepe's work rate, energy, and aggression remain unmatched to this day, and Varane has won all the silverware a player would ever hope for.
Like upgrades, some downgrades may be on the table. Doumbia, Gervinho, and Ibarbo could switch rarity to Hall of FUT, since they feel more like Ultimate Team cult figures than players who belong in the Hero class.
