EA has now officially revealed FC 27. There don't appear to be any dramatic changes this time as well, but plenty has been added, including a brand-new open-world mode

Gameplay has received slight tweaks and additions here and there. Among the noticeable changes revealed so far are the corner and cross redesign and general AI balances.

Most gameplay changes revealed so far are subtle improvements that will make the general flow of the game smoother in FC 27.

Attacking Spatial Awareness

Players will now attack with more fluidity through improved awareness of the pitch and opponents. Your teammates will better recognize the space and make proper runs instead of always going in one direction you didn't intend.

Expect intelligent curved runs, avoiding offsides, utilizing overlapping and underlapping runs both automatically and on demand.

Off-Balance Dribbling

Agile players will now maintain momentum better after being muscled by a defender while dribbling. We don't know the extent of how much balance will be retained by the attacker.

However, the feature will not be available on last-gen consoles. Previous games also sometimes felt vastly different on older consoles, and the parity will continue this year, as FC 27 will be a cross-gen title.

Corner Kicks & Crossing Improvements

Crossing has been useless in EA FC for a very long time. Corners have also been largely unreliable. Both of them were due for improvements.

For FC 27, corners have been redesigned. You have real-time control over defensive positioning and attacking intent.

Likewise, there will be improved two-player header simulation to deliver more competitive aerial battles and crossing.

AI Defending Balance

AI balance is something we hear about almost every year. It has been unsurprisingly mentioned this time as well, specifically pointed out for defenders.

Manual defending appears to be now boosted with increased range to cut passes. Jockeys, well-timed tackles, and positioning will be very important, or so EA says. This means leaving defending to AI may not be as viable.

Whether these balances continue to remain deep into the game's cycle or be patched out later remains to be seen.

Authentic Gameplay 2.0

Authentic Gameplay was introduced last year for slower-paced immersive gameplay, available outside of Ultimate Team.

There will be more improvements to the feature with "grounded, realistic gameplay and greater match-to-match variety driven by distinct player personalities and evolving opposition tactics."

Those are every major gameplay feature and improvement unveiled for FC 27 in the reveal trailer.

We will learn more about the game in the upcoming gameplay deep dives.

It's worth noting all FC 27 editions have also been revealed, and Pre-orders are already live.
