NBA 2K26 is one of the most highly anticipated sports games of 2025, and with EA Sports announcing the return of their College Basketball franchise, the pressure is on 2K to deliver a fantastic game.
While fans' hopes aren't very high, their demands certainly are, as NBA 2K players aren't happy with the direction the franchise has gone in the past few years and want to see improvements.
So, without further ado, let's find out everything about NBA 2K26.
NBA 2K26 Release Date

NBA 2K26 will be released on September 5. This was officially announced by NBA 2K recently, after many reliable sources had already alluded to it.
It follows what can now be considered the traditional NBA 2K release schedule, as it was implemented in 2020, and the company has followed it ever since. Because of that, this release date wasn't a surprise for fans.
NBA 2K26 Platforms

NBA 2K26 will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, and the recently released Nintendo Switch 2.
As it happens every year since the release of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, the community was wondering if 2K would leave the old-generation consoles behind in this entry.
We had predicted that it was unlikely to happen, and that's exactly what happened, with NBA 2K26 coming to old-gen, even though some new features are expected not to be added to the old-gen version, as usual.
Most of 2K's latest sports titles, such as WWE 2K25 and TopSpin 2K25, have also been released for both current and old-gen platforms, so it's not surprising that NBA 2K26 is following in their footsteps.
With the NBA 2K player base on the PlayStation 4 being considerable, it's hard to see 2K leave the old-gen platforms behind soon. However, that time will eventually happen.
NBA 2K26 Editions

NBA 2K26 has four Editions: Standard Edition, WNBA Edition, Superstar Edition, and the Leave No Doubt Edition.
Similar to what happened in previous years, players who pre-order the two most expensive editions, the Superstar and Leave No Doubt Editions, will have early access to the game.
However, this year's special edition, the Leave No Doubt Edition, will not include the 12-month NBA League Pass subscription. This caught many players by surprise, and for many fans, it has made the Edition less appealing.
The editions vary in price and pre-order bonuses, with the Standard Edition being the cheapest one, while the Leave No Doubt Edition is the most expensive one, by a considerable margin.
This is everything we know about NBA 2K26 so far. More information about the game, such as gameplay changes and improvements to game modes, will be revealed soon. We will update this article regularly, so make sure to bookmark it.
