FC 26 is expanding how you build and customize your Ultimate Team squad. With repeatable evolutions, goalkeeper evolutions, and stackable cosmetic upgrades, the game now offers more freedom, flexibility, and personality than ever before.
This allows players to create even more unique squads than before, and keep their favorite cards up to the meta standard for longer. At the same time, it allows users to be more competitive while not having to spend money on virtual currency to do so.
Continue with our guide as we break down all the major changes coming to evolutions and cosmetics in FC 26:
What are repeatable evolutions in FC 26?

Repeatable evolutions are one of the most welcome additions to Ultimate Teams in FC 26. Some Evolution paths in FC 26 now allow for multiple completions, which are similar to selecting Squad Building Challenges (SBCs) or Objectives.
This indicates that you can:
- Apply the same evolution to multiple player items.
- Evolve the same player more than once (if they meet the requirements again).
- Relax and experiment without feeling pressure to make the “perfect” choice upfront.
However, most repeatable evolutions will still be limited, meaning you will only be able to complete them a certain number of times. This is expected to maintain balance while offering additional flexibility in how you shape your squad.
Goalkeeper Evolutions are finally here!
After much demand from fans, goalkeepers can also be evolved in FC 26. You are now able to upgrade both their attributes and cosmetics in the same way as outfield players can. This offers full squad progression in Ultimate Team, allowing for more meaningful upgrades in the back line.
The addition of goalkeeper evolution will also make many goalkeepers, who would normally not be among the best in the game, become meta. It gives players a wider choice of viable goalkeepers, adding yet another element to squad building.
Cosmetic upgrades in FC 26

In FC 25, applying a new cosmetic evolution meant losing a previous design; however, FC 26 introduced cosmetic stacking to address this issue. Here's how it works:
- Cosmetic effects are now separated by type.
- Different types of cosmetics (e.g., badges, animations, backgrounds) can be stacked.
- Cosmetics only overwrite each other if they affect the same type.
- Even if an Evolution changes your player’s rarity, non-rarity effects like badges and animations will remain.
This system allows you to create a more distinct visual identity for your squad without having to sacrifice your favorite looks.
New Cosmetic Preview and Badging System
FC 26 also introduces a new preview system, which allows you to see:
- Cosmetic changes and rarity upgrades before applying an evolution.
- How a certain evolution will visually alter your player card.
Additionally, evolution status will now be marked with a new badging system, which can even be used in Squad Retirements for Live Events and Ultimate Team Rush.
