Sega has announced a new free-to-play football management game, Sega Football Club Champions 2025, coming to PC, PS5, PS4, iOS, and Android.

The news follows Sega's decision to cancel Football Manager 2025 earlier this year, with the company explaining that a variety of challenges meant that it was regretfully unable to fulfill its ultimate goal for the game.

Leaving a passionate and dedicated FM community devastated, the announcement didn't go down well, however, Sega will no doubt be hoping that the emergence of Football Club Champions 2025 helps fill the void in the meantime.

Sega launched an official website for Football Club Champions over the weekend, revealing more details about the upcoming game. Described as the latest multiplatform football management simulator from Sega, SFCC allows players to achieve glory across two modes: Career Mode and Dream Team Mode.

In Career Mode, players manage a team, call the shots on the pitch, and strive to build the greatest club of all time. Meanwhile, Dream Team is a PvP mode that sees players go head-to-head around the globe, featuring Event Matches, the Arena, Room Matches, and more.

Sega has partnered with various leagues worldwide, enabling players to recruit 10,000 professional footballers, including 1,500 from J1–J3 leagues in Japan, as well as athletes from FIFPRO, K League, Manchester City, and more.

A pre-registration campaign is now live for those who wish to confirm their interest, while applications for a closed beta test are also being accepted. According to Sega, the closed beta test is being conducted with the aim of refining the game as much as possible prior to launch.

Sega Football Club Champions 2025 does not have a fixed release date at the time of writing, but with the beta running between 19 June - 30 June, it could be another month or two before it becomes available.
