Madden 26 is one of the most anticipated sports titles of 2025 and one of the most hyped Madden titles of the decade. Plenty of gameplay changes and overall improvements have been implemented, as revealed in the gameplay and Franchise mode deep dives.
So, fans are understandably excited about Madden 26, even if many are lowering their expectations to avoid disappointment with the upcoming EA Madden title, a phenomenon that has occurred several times in the past.
However, what many want to really know is if the game will continue to release on the PlayStation 4, or if they will follow in the footsteps of College Football and ditch the old-generation entirely.
Will Madden 26 be available on PlayStation 4?

Unfortunately, Madden 26 won't be releasing for the PlayStation 4. It's yet another EA Sports franchise that has moved on from old-gen consoles, and we expect more franchises to do the same in the near future.
This doesn't come as a huge surprise, as the current-gen consoles are almost five years old, and eventually, sports game developers would stop working on titles for old-gen.
Many of the recently released EA Madden titles for PlayStation 4 didn't include all the features that current-gen consoles had access to. So, in a way, EA Madden had stopped actually releasing for the PlayStation 4 a few years ago.
It's bad news for PlayStation 4 players, as the console still has a considerable Madden player base, but technology doesn't stop, and sooner or later, this was bound to happen.
At a time were rumours about the PlayStation 6 are already circulating, it's not a shock to see studios completely leaving the PlayStation 4, and other older generation platforms.
