College Football 26 allows you to experience the magic of college football in a virtual setting. It includes all the things you see in real-life college football, such as recruiting, player development, and redshirting players.
Redshirt allows you to keep players at your school for one extra year, increasing their eligibility while also improving their attributes and abilities.
It can be used on freshmen players with great potential, giving them more time to develop before they step into the field, or on superstar players, if you want to extend your championship window.
How to Redshirt in College Football 26

Players have four years of eligibility in College Football 26, but if they are redshirted, they gain an extra year.
To redshirt players in College Football 26, you need to head to the Team tab in Dynasty mode. Then, select the Redshirts option. There, you can see which players are eligible to be redshirted and apply it to them by pressing A on Xbox and X on PlayStation 5.
Players who play more than four games can't be redshirted. Therefore, be cautious when selecting your redshirt players at the start of each season. If a player hasn't been redshirted but still plays less than four games, they will automatically gain the redshirt status, and their eligibility will be extended.
As mentioned above, redshirts are best used on freshman with great potential, as you will give them an extra year to develop and improve their attributes and abilities.
This makes them much more prepared to step into the field and have an immediate impact, as they have developed and are more familiar with the offensive or defensive schemes of your program.
But freshmen aren't the only players worth redshirting. If you have a star quarterback, wide receiver, or any other high-impact player, and you think you have a better shot at a title next season, redshirting them can be a great move.
Sure, you will likely have worse results in the current season, but you extend your championship window and give yourself the best chance at winning a College Football National Championship.
While redshirting is something you can actively do in Dynasty mode, the same doesn't apply to Road to Glory. On the latter, you are dependent on the coach to redshirt you. The best way to ensure you have one more year of eligibility is to join one of the best schools in the country, which is easier said than done.
