Career mode is a staple of the EA FC franchise, with a huge and loyal fan base. But the last couple of years haven't been great for fans, as the mode felt stale.

New features weren't as impactful as expected, a few removed features left a void that wasn't fulfilled, and the mode began to feel more and more repetitive, which has hurt the ability of players to get really immersed in it.

All in all, Career mode needs big changes to once again become the mode every EA FC fan was eager to play as soon as they got home. But what features can change the course of the mode and revitalize it? Let's find out!

A New Transfer System

The Career mode transfer system has remained unchanged for over five years. While its introduction was a success, it quickly became repetitive, boring, and quite time-consuming. Many fans still prefer the older transfer system, as it was quicker and didn't feel as repetitive.

It's unlikely EA goes entirely back to its old transfer system, but having an option for players to choose which transfer system they want to use seems like a good idea. But even better would be for EA FC to revamp the current transfer systems, adding new options, cutscenes, and including deal breakers.

A better transfer system will make the mode more realistic, immersive, and enjoyable to play, as buying and selling players is one of the most exciting parts of Career mode.

Improved AI for Squad building and Transfers

The most important process of Career mode is to build a squad, buying players that fit your system, selling those who don't, and having a long-term project. Unfortunately, the AI fails miserably in that regard, as squads are unbalanced, with many players for certain positions and a lack of options for others, with some of the AI transfers also being very questionable.

Improving both the AI squad-building and transfers logic would make Career mode much more interesting, while also making saves more challenging. It would also add another layer of realism to the game, as in real life, squads are carefully constructed, and those who aren't usually pay the price for it.

Making CPU transfer more logical, to fill an urgent need of the team, replace a player who was just sold, or bet on young talented players, would make the mode significantly more interesting to play. Teams having different transfer approaches, as they do in real life, would also be a fantastic addition.

Unique Playstyles

Teams in Career mode need to have unique playstyles that change from time to time, or when the coach is fired. Having a team play the same way for 10 seasons, when they had two or three different coaches, makes no sense and is far from being realistic.

So, teams should have unique playstyles and identities that should be visible once you set foot on the pitch. Coaches' styles should also vary, and transfers should take into consideration players who fit that tactical scheme and playstyle.

These three changes would make Career mode significantly better. While they don't fix all the problems the mode currently has, they would certainly be a step in the right direction.
